Are Kenyan Bodybuilders on Steroids?

stero 1Bodybuilding is a sport involving strenuous physical exercise in order to strengthen and enlarge the muscles of the body.
In other words.Bodybuilding is the use of progressive resistance exercise to control and develop one’s musculature. An individual who engages in this activity is referred to as a bodybuilder.

Bodybuilding is a sport worldly accepted and encouraged by fitness enthusiast as a way of health and better living.For you can’t build muscle if you are not healthy or can You?? There as been a tendency of bodybuilders using muscle enhancers for faster muscle recovery and building but as always been advised as unhealthy and dangerous.


This drives me to my homeland Kenya.Where there as been a harsh conversation and argument on Facebook whether Kenyans both Armature and Professional Bodybuilders juice or not.

As I can remember one day when I met the Olympia 2016 best build man on earth and USN ambassador William Bonac on his vist here to Kenya,he told me that Kenyans have the gift and genetic to build muscles faster and better but are joking; this his what he told me.” Jeepson,look at that big guy over there.He is that big right? But from eating shity!! Foods right? And doesn’t lift.What if he eat right and lift right with the right program??” That left me with a lot of questions that am still meditating on.But does that mean that athletes are not juicing or steroids don’t build muscles here in Kenya.I don’t think so.


Talking with some of the best known Kenyan bodybuilders have told me that yes we have Kenyan bodybuilders who take this stuff and have also advised them to take it.Some pioneers of this beautiful sport have openly asked advice on how to use this enhancers and some athletes with no shame have proudly ordered them on facebook. The federation KBBF as claimed of testing and banning the culprits but there as been multiple denial from various competitors that they are not tests conducted before or after the competition.If so,why call it a drug free federation? Who believes the federation anyway?

The Truth!! I think people are different but some times hard work and Knowledge beats talent.Some bodybuilders have moved to social media to point at other athletes and claiming that they are juicing for their gains but with no prove. Well a man who is a man should not bring his insecurities on social media and blame others for his unsuccessful ambitions. People should man up and face life as it comes.Whether you are on roids or not that’s not what matters.Your physique will decide.

The ban of Joseph Owino | Is Kenya Bodybuilding Federation KBBF Clean on its Competition.

So many Allegations have flooded the Kbbf on its upcoming event (Mr. and Mrs. Kenya bodybuilding competition on July 1st 2017).Some claim the guest posing of Olympia Competitor William Bonac is a betrayal to the “Natural” Kenya bodybuilding Competition Organised by KBBF and Sponsored by USN.

This allegations have raised ears when one competitor claimed on his facebook account that he won’t compete since the federation as banned him from competing,regardless of the federation even not testing him for banned substances.
This is what Mr. Joseph Owino posted on his Facebook account on 30/July/2017. ” To all my friends and fans, I hereby announce that I will not be participating in the Mr Kenya competition tomorrow. This is because Big V and Chris Omedo communicated that I have been banned for 2 years for no reason. This is after I noticed that they choose a winner before the competition. The winner gets 100k while number 2 gets 35k then number 3 gets 20k. This difference does not make sense yet after spending 15 to 20k in preparation for the competition all you get us a certificate. Some of the judges need to be fair because they pretend to come to judge fairly yet they already know the winner. I take this opportunity to thank USN for sponsoring the Kenya Body Builders but it’s not the Federation that sponsors, this is because USN gives body builders much support in supplements. I wish all the body builders taking part in tomorrow’s competition all the best and much success.
The chairman of the alleged Federation KBBF Mr. Chris Omedo as moved to the federations Facebook group to trush the allegations made by Joseph accompanied by a scanned document.This is what he published.
” Further to False Allegations leveled against the Federation-KBBF by one of the athletes that we have banned him.Here is the Truth . Kbbf is bigger than an individual. We must be responsive in our actions . The ruling/Verdict is out in case you need more information then will make it public and take necessary action.We must behave responsively and account for our actions even in a court of Law. “

Jeep: Hallo,Mr. Rashid?
Rashid: Hello boss,
 Jeep: What have you been upto since last year 2016 Mr.Kenya competition?
Rashid: Just been up and down working and working out.
Jeep: Most people might be wondering,what made you win the competition.What does it take to be a Mr.Kenya?
Rashid: I won coz I was the man of the moment. I not only brought the best package but it was also complete. One has to work hard for it,prepare well and bring the best physique.
 Jeep: How did it feel to take home the trophy? 
Rashid: Its a good thing being the best in the country you know, it just tells the other side of you that both the judges and audience missed out on and that’s your discipline in training and diet.

Jeep: Thats impressive,now lets talk about this year agenda.Howis your preparation for this main event?
Rashid: This year things might be different coz I expect a lot of stiff competition that’s why I’ve been preparing to my level best to bring the best and am sure the best is gonna win.
 Jeep: Whats soo unique about your training program and other competitors.What makes you think you will lift the cup once again?
Rashid: There’s nothing unique in my training routine or program. I think I like to focus on form and technique rather than sacrifice form for weight coz am a bodybuilder and not a powerlifter or in a strongman competition. You know what if you thought winning or retaining a title is easy, try beating a defending champion.
Jeep: What muscle groups were your strong holds last year?
Rashid:  All but one. Though in body building symmetry is important as a well defined classic Physique.
 Jeep: What are you doing to ensure that other athlets dont over shine you on stage this comming July 1st. 2017 ?
Rashid: My aim is not to avoid being over shined by other athletes but to bring a totally different package from what they saw last year.

Jeep: Whats deffrent in your current meal plan from last year?
Rashid: Nothing is actually changing in my plan only that am changing my meal times from day to night coz of we’ll be observing the Holy month of RAMADHAN so I have to eat my meals at night and take Casein as my last meal at 5am.
Jeep: what are you improving on,interms of your physique this year?
Rashid: I’ve increased my size but maintained my weight meaning I’ll be more solid.
Jeep: Do you think there will be a stiff competition this year on stage as it was last year?
Rashid: Why not? This is Mr.Kenya Title and everyone wants to win. I still expect same or even more competition from same and new guys coming.
 Jeep: What should people expect this year on stage?
Rashid: They should expect entertainment, fire works and a repeat of 2016.

SHEETAL: Thank you! Jeep

JEEP: Many have been asking,why and how have you been able to explode your legs while still remain feminine,would you highlight Us on your Legs workout routine?

SHEETAL: Yes well

  • Squats 5 sets wide and close challenging weight usually 120kgs plus, warm up is 60 Kgs 20 reps.
  • Leg press again heavy wide and close,
  • leg extensions pulling body forwards when raising legs to work tear drops, wide, closed in and straight.
  • Hip thrusts, hack squats, quad presses on calf machine, extensions, stiff legs and lunges.

”I always alternate with front squats on diff leg days.”

JEEP:What are your real names?
SIMEON:My actual names are Simeon R Magak
JEEP:Are you a Brand Sponsored athlete?
SIMEON:I am actually a self sponsored athlete.
JEEP:How do you balance your ; family,work and fitness
time?
SIMEON:I am a Registered Clinician,married with a
Son.My first training session is from 5.30am to 7.am
and by 8.00am
i’m already in the office.2nd session is from 5.00pm to
6.30pm then i rush home to be with my family.

JEEP:How long have you been in this sport?
SIMEON:I began serious training in the year 2012
JEEP:What approached you to fitness?
SIMEON: I used to be skinny and didn’t like my physical
look.I had to do something about it.
JEEP: what attracted you to the bodybuilding part?
SIMEON: The great Arnold,i real loved his well built body
and I wanted to be like him.
JEEP: How was the
reaction of your family and friends when you said,”I am
becoming a bodybuilder”?
SIMEON: My mother initially
resisted but on realising the
passion i had she gave in.My wife is the greatest pillar
on this,she fully supports me.
JEEP:What categories have you competed in and how
did
you place.?
SIMEON: August 2014-musclemania Africa,3rd
Light heavyweight.
Nov 2014-Mr Nakuru County,4th lightheavyweight.
Dec 2014-Mr Kericho,4th lightheavyweight.
May 2015-Mr/miss Nairobi,2nd heavyweight.
Oct 2015-Muslemania Africa,3rd heavyweight.

JEEP:how many days a week, how many
sessions a day and hours do you train?
SIMEON:Currently i train twice a day 7days a week only
resting when my body calls for it.Each session lasting
1hr 30mins.
JEEP:Which is your most starbon muscle
and which one is your strong hold?
SIMEON:Calves are
my most stubborn,the rest are well balanced so far.
JEEP: free weights or machines which is the best?
SIMEON:I tend to concentrate more on free weights but
i throw in machines especially in isolation exercises.
JEEP:Isolated muscle workout or Compound muscle
workout which do you prefer for bringing out the
aesthetics?
SIMEON:I do both but closer to contest i do
more of isolation for details.
JEEP:As they say,muscle are made in the gym and grow
in the Kitchen, what’s your diet like?
SIMEON:Revolves
around Sweet potatoes,rice/beans,chicken,fish,lean
beef,arrow roots,vegetables and ripe bananas.
JEEP:When do you have your cheatmeals?
SIMEON:I have my cheat meals every saturday.
JEEP:Whats favourite supplements?

SIMEON: BCAAs and whey protein.
JEEP:Who is Your favourite current Mr. Olimpya
competitor?

SIMEON:Shawn Rhoden is my favourite.
JEEP:Well everyone always have their Fair share of
criticism from people, have you had yours? how was it?
SIMEON:I’ve had alot of such but i like the way i handle
them.
JEEP:What music highps! you in the gym?
SIMEON:Very loud hip hop.
JEEP:Whats your craziest funns experience?
SIMEON:A lot of crazy stuff but that’s for another day.

give to young athletes trying to get into fitness?
SIMEON:Work harder each day,train smart,eat
smart,sleep adequately,be ready to learn,be
disciplined,be patient and wait for the results.AVOID
STEROIDS.
